Treasures of arts and crafts

Jewellers, ceramicists, graphic artists, glass- and textile artists blessed with extraordinary skills and creativity, as well as artists from a wide range of crafts, have been waiting long for the opportunity to showcase their latest work to the public. Their traditional venue, the Museum of Applied Arts has been under extended renovation, while last year this traditional craft fair could not be organized because of the pandemic. This time the Várkert Bazaar hosted the event. The most beautiful items were displayed side by side: glassware, silk painted fabrics, torch-fired enamel paintings, jewellery, watercolours, leather crafts and other specialities. I was also enriched with new treasures, and at one table, I was presented with a lovely wooden bird, despite my attempts to buy. But in addition to the exhibitors and buyers, there were also other winners of this Advent event, because during the four weekends of the fair a fundraiser was held in support of the István Regőczi Foundation. Thanks to their initiative, even more families will receive help in the new year.
