Starry Little Rascals

My husband and I have known the Árvácska (Pansy) Ensemble quite well, since it is made up mostly of underprivileged and orphaned children living in the shelter run by Csibész (Rascal) Foundation in Csíksomlyó. Whenever we attend the Csíksomlyó Pilgrimage, we also pay them a visit.
The repeated encounter this time preceded Whitsunday, since the ensamble played music and performed nativity plays in Budapest. As we often experienced before, these children are full of love, goodness and helpfulness, this time though, traces of mischief and buoyancy were also clearly manifest. We could not help noticing that the rods supporting one of the little stars was fixed by a golden thread. The reason was that the rod holding the star doubled as a sword during the breaks between performances and rehearsals. This goes to show eminently that the performers are genuine children, in spite of all the difficulties they experienced earlier: they are charming and sweet and - thank god! – full of mischief too!
