Dinner in Honour of the Hungarian Participants of the Law Moot Court Competitions

Law students from ELTE University came in first among contestants from all over the world in the category of summary applicant and respondent pleadings of the Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. We invited these students and their instructor coaches to the Sándor Palace. The grand contest organised for students of law is the most prestigious global event, where about 600 teams from some 100 countries participate every year. The young lawyers from ELTE achieved absolute first place in the contest organised in Washington D.C.: they triumphed over more than 120 teams, including those of Yale, Berkeley and King’s College, as well as the German, Irish, French, Canadian, Indian, Chinese and Australian teams, which earlier won the international finals. Both my husband and myself were very proud of them. It is an incredible achievement to be better than the multitude of law students arguing in their mother tongue. It was revealed during the memorable dinner that the winning Hungarian youths honed their outstanding language skills in Hungary, within the Hungarian educational system. I am sure that my father, the late professor of law of international acclaim is pleased to see these Hungarian heroes of law moot competitions.
