Shining Tradition

I am amazed, year upon year, by the creativity of students interested in figurative arts. At the awards ceremony of this year’s visual OKTV (contest for high school students) I once again encountered uniquely singular ideas and special works. The modern comics conjuring up the age of the landstaking, the folklore motives unfolding in drawings and on objects exhibited, showcase the meeting point of past and present.  The topic of the contest was “shining tradition”. High school students, themselves already born in the 21st century, reinterpreted the legacy of their ancestors. It is with creative excitement that they delved into the world of traditions to shape their own thoughts, armed with the wealth of their ancestors, to look for their own paths yet untrodden, which they can claim theirs alone. The works of art exhibited in the Deák 17 Art Gallery demonstrated the relevance of the initiative. The artistic thoughts conceived in the students well deserve the space they have to be given.
