Protecting the Environment with Fairy Tales

The cartoon “Vízipók-csodapók” (Swimming spider, the wonder spider) was a favourite of my kids as well as mine when I was little. We still cherish vivid memories of some of the characters and certain scenes of the cartoon series. The beautifully drawn, sweet stories are popular for a reason: its creators managed for decades, to captivate the youngest ones revealing to them the peculiar secrets of nature. Young audiences became familiar with and came to like the tiny creatures of the water world and they learned to appreciate and protect the environment. It is therefore welcome news that the cartoon has been digitally updated and put on the programme of cinemas around the country: next year, on the World Water Day, thousands of children can view the film again.  The importance of protecting the environment is a painfully timely issue.
