Memorable programs, memorable people

Love, Service

Love, Service
Before Christmas, the whole country usually becomes active, people’s hearts open up and tens of thousands of people start giving, driven by good intentions, without knowing the recipients. It is wonderful to receive an unexpected surprise gift and to feel that we are in someone’s thoughts and love and being charitable and working for a good cause is just as heart-warming. This is why for years I have been happily involved in the professionally organised programme of the Maltese Charity Order entitled ‘Giving is a Joy’. This year I met even more young volunteers, as a lot of young people chose to help as part of the voluntary service required by high schools of their students. Together with them and through the active collaboration of all age groups, the holiday season was once again enriched by a lot of donations for many families in need. When helping the needy and alleviating the trouble of others, we do what the shepherds arriving at the Betlehem stable and the Magi did to the infant Jesus Christ: we offer gifts and protection to one another.
